The Gold this year was won by ‘Marstons’ Thai Edamame Bean Burger/Sriracha Burger by KK Fine Foods Plc. This wonderful product is a vegetable burger with quinoa, flavoured with Sriracha spices, carrot, red onion, Edamame beans, choy sum, red jalapenos and radishes. With the constant media attention surrounding the adverse side-effects of eating processed meats and the general trend towards healthy, plant-based diets, there has been a huge increase in the need for vegetarian and vegan options on menus. Product ticks both of these boxes and also delivers on flavour – following the huge Asian food trend, in particular, Sriracha. This product was certainly well-received by our experts from the Craft Guild of Chefs and one confessed meat-eater said, “Lovely taste, great product as a meat eater I would love that. SUPERB,” whilst another said, “It was fresh and tasty and had great appearance with a lovely kick a few seconds after.”
