In an absolutely stellar year for Oliver James Foods they have won both the Gold and Silver in this very competitive sector. They win Gold with ‘Pub Food Direct’ Barbacoa Beef Chilli Pie with Cornbread Lid. Barbacoa is a form of cooking meat that originated in the Caribbean with Taino people, from which the term ‘Barbecue’ derives. In contemporary Mexico, it generally refers to meats or whole sheep cooked over an open fire, or more traditionally in a hole dug in the ground covered with maguey leaves, although the interpretation is loose and in the present day (and in some cases) may refer to meats steamed until tender. Well our chefs certainly loved this product with one saying, “A good product. Good pastry case with a well-created filling. Overall a good product.”
