Jane Deegan, Kara Marketing Manager discusses resent product launches and how Kara is staying ahead with the latest trends. ‘Industry research has shown that in 2017 31% of cakes bought for a snack were purchased in a coffee shop. In response to this we have developed three new on trend 10 inch cakes to add to our Indulgent Cake Collection aiding wholesalers and outlets to all have a tempting on trend offer. The new cakes include a Nostalgic classic with a twist on a Banoffee; a triple layer Banana and Toffee Kiss, a comforting Dulce de Leche (Caramel & Toffee) and a social media ready Rose & Vanilla Shimmer cake.’

‘We’re also pleased to announce Kara have taken centre stage this year with their Luxury Salted Caramel & Hazelnut Chocolate Cake taking home the Large Cake of the Year Award, a well deserved prize for this mouth-watering cake. Our cake fought off strong competition, standing out with its decadent triple layers made from an indulgent chocolate and toffee sponge, filled with a luxurious salted caramel buttercream, enrobed in a chocolate frosting and topped with chocolate hazelnut buttercream, chocolate curls, salted caramel drizzle and chopped hazelnuts. This prestigious award is testament to our dedicated team, who take pride in producing award winning products for our customers. Kara’s Indulgent Cake Collection offers an indulgent selection of round cakes made with the highest quality ingredients and are all hand finished to create show stopping finish. All Kara’s round cakes are pre-portioned, an ideal for tempting the coffee shop customer.’

The latest data has also shown that Muffins continue to be a popular sweet breakfast purchase with 44% of muffins bought at breakfast time being purchased in a coffee shop. With consumers still wanting a convenient treat on-the-go. In 2016 Kara re-launched and extended their Tulip Muffin range, consisting of much loved classics; Triple Chocolate Muffin and the classic Blueberry Crumble to new and exciting flavours such as a double injected Apple, Blackcurrant & Custard Crumble and a Caramel Toffee Latte; a rich caramel latte sponge with a luxurious toffee flavoured centre. All Kara muffins have injected centres and eye catching toppings. Perfect for a morning pick me up.

The new range is nut free and all are suitable for vegetarians.’
