Sharing information to co-workers about employee who tests positive for COVID-19?

Can employer share information to co-workers about employee who tests positive for COVID-19?

If an employee is tests positive for COVID-19 the first reaction from an employee could be to advise others including co-workers. While this seems to be the right thing to do in the current climate, employment law and data protection both need to be considered to avoid a breach of the employees confidentially and data protection. To this end we gained a second opinion from an employment specialist.

They agreed that employment law and data protection (GDPR) would prevent an employer disclosing information should an employee test positive based on confidentiality and GDPR, however with the employees consent/agreement this would be acceptable.
