John graduated this year with a first-class honours degree in food science and nutrition from Northumbria University after a 6-week placement with Dalziel Ingredients last year.
The company has a strong association with the university, with John being one of many students it has taken on work placement since 2008.
Roya studied at Sheffield Hallam University where she graduated with an honours degree in food marketing. A third graduate NPD technologist is also joining later this month.
She said: “We have a great ongoing relationship with Dalziel. We know our graduates will be exposed to the highest professional standards.”
Dalziel Ingredients specialises in creating bespoke seasoning blends and functional blends for food processors at its state-of-the-art factory and new product development centre in Gateshead.
There it manufactures a comprehensive range of bespoke dry blends – seasonings, complete mixes, rubs, glazes, functional blends, batters, crumbs, snack seasonings, cures and brines for any meat and savoury product.
Its dedicated gluten free line means all of its products are available as gluten free. Currently, it is seeing a high demand for advice and ideas for the gluten free sector.
Dalziel’s product development team advises food manufacturers across the UK on flavour trends, market analysis, factory processes, recipe formulations and product quality enhancements (increasing yields, salt reductions, improved texture and fat reduction).
Together, Dalziel’s eleven-strong NPD team has over 80 years’ experience in the food Industry, explained the company’s NPD manager Fran Hutton – who has 13 years’ experience having also gained a food science and nutrition degree at Northumbria University.
She said: “The diversity in our skills sets us apart in terms of our experience and industry knowledge. We have a real passion for food and everything that encompasses it.
