The BFFF is creating an annual review of the Frozen Food Industry to release in January 2021. The review will focus on the industry as a whole in the last 12 months, including the successes, innovation, challenges, and concerns.
The report is going to be broken down into five main chapters: Retail Industry, Foodservice Industry, Consumer Behaviour, Food Waste, and Sustainability. Within the Retail and Foodservice industry chapters, the report will feature market data from Kantar and CGA, a review of how our members have been impacted by Covid-19, NPD and innovation, combined with trends for the future.
The chapter on Consumer Behaviour will look at consumers’ shopping habits and perceptions on frozen food, freezer ownership and the challenges the industry is facing with the obesity crisis.
Food Waste is a very important topic at the moment and something we can all get involved with. We have been working with WRAP to provide content for this chapter, with further contributions from BFFF members Company Shop and Fareshare highlighting the importance of repurposing food.
Finally, the chapter on Sustainability will focus on packaging reduction, concerns about plastic tax and innovating for the future.
The BFFF would like to take the opportunity to thank the BFFF Young Leaders Forum (YLF) for their help with the report. Holly Jones, Technical Assistant, and Harry Hinks, Digital Membership and Marketing Manager for the BFFF, lead the YLF and pitched the idea of the report to the group in August. The group has since worked together designing the structure of the review and providing important content. Thank you as well to all the other BFFF members for their valued contributions.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Newcold who have agreed to Sponsor this comprehensive review of our industry.
