As the end of the transition period for Brexit has now passed, we are starting to see the real operational issues becoming clear.
This has been made more complicated by the last-minute trade agreement with the EU. Whilst the BFFF recognises the Free Trade Agreement with the EU as a positive step, it did come with an added level of complication around things such as the ‘Rules of Origin’. This together with a whole new UK based import and export process means that members are facing a lot of new processes and procedures, some only announced in the final few days of 2020. In some cases, members are asking us for advice on areas outside of our expertise, we will do our utmost to answer all questions however some may take longer if we need to seek guidance from outside the BFFF.
Can we therefore please remind all members that if they have queries relating to Brexit then these should be submitted via the following email address: [email protected]. We are unable to answer questions over the phone due to:
- The complexity that is required to answer what seems to be the simplest of questions.
- To ensure that questions are answered in the order they arrive.
- That all questions have answers on a paper trail.
Thank you for your understanding but it is important we have an effective process to deal with what are quite often complex issues.
