Defra are currently working on project called DAS (Digital Assistance Scheme) for the movement of goods from GB to Northern Ireland. The aim of the project is to create a paperless system for all the documentation required to export POAO and High-Risk goods to Northern Ireland. This will also include EHCs and by having just one data entry point it will reduce the issues of transposing the wrong data. They are also looking to provide interfaces into a company’s computer system so that the data can just be transferred out.

The basis of this system will also be used for exports to the rest of the EU, which hopefully will reduce both the complexity and current costs associated with exporting POAO and High-Risk goods.

They are looking for more SMEs to join the project, so they cover all types of business size. If any member is interested in taking part, then please contact Siobhan we will then put you in contact with the relevant Defra personnel.
