We have been updated by Defra on the project they are working on to move some of the workload of creating the documentation for export to Northern Ireland onto a digital platform.

The initial scoping work has now been completed and they now wish to engage with business on the next stage of the system.

The system will not take away all parts of the process but will be built to address three key areas:

  • Provide information in time to cope with a RoRo distribution system.
  • Consistency of information between certifying authorities in UK and BCPs in Northern Irealnd.
  • Reduction of human error.

If any member would like to be involved in the next steps with Defra please advise the BFFF on the Brexit email address – brexit@bfff.co.uk.

We are, however, concerned that the new system could be months away before it is ready, yet the end of the grace period for Northern Ireland is only weeks away.
