There were approximately 20 trade associations on the call, and it was an opportunity to raise our concerns around the issues relating to Brexit.
We raised concerns about the continuing issue of moving samples around and the general level of bureaucracy now involved with moving products of animal origin and high-risk goods in and out of EU countries.
We expressed our concerns about costs that Government legislation will create for members. This includes the increase in tax on red diesel, plastic tax and HFSS.
We also raised our concerns that there seemed to be a real disconnect between the EPR and waste collection consultations. EPR gave little manoeuvrability for members, yet the waste collections gave a lot of latitude to Local Authorities.
We will keep in contact with the shadow team as it may give us the opportunity to challenge the Government on some of these areas
