Members will be aware that new Animal Health Regulations (AHR) come into force for the EU on 21st April 2021.

Within the new regulations it states that ‘unless UHT Milk is used in a product that a Full Dairy Health Certificate (EHC) is required’.

We have had verbal confirmation from Defra that the EU have now agreed that as long as pasteurised milk is used from a recognised country, such as the UK, that a Full Dairy EHC is not required where milk in part of a complex product.

Defra are hopeful that the EU will pass amended legislation in time to amend the rules before 21st April 2021. The Commission has advised if this is impossible that the status quo will remain until the required legislation is passed.
