The European Commission has now provided clarity on the certification requirements for exports of wild caught species listed in EU legislation. This clarification applies to the new fish and crustacean EHC (export health certificate 8361).
Defra have had confirmation that consignments of wild fishery products, including live wild crustaceans, landed from fishing vessels into the UK do NOT require completion of Part II.2 of the certificate. Part II.2 can therefore be deleted, meaning this EHC can be signed by an FCCO (food competent certifying officer).
Part II.1 of the certificate must be completed, but it can be completed either by an FCCO, or an OV (official veterinarian).
Listed fishery products from aquaculture, requiring further processing in the EU, will need part II.2. of the certificate to be completed. An OV will be required to sign certificates where part II.2 is retained.
