The Federation is attending a weekly forum run by Defra to discuss issues and challenges of getting goods exported from Great Britain (GB) to NI (Northern Ireland).
On one of these forums, they shared with us further details on the work that is underway on the Digital Assistance Scheme (DAS).
The concept is that all of the current paperwork will be replaced with a digital process. The aim will also be to connect all the various Government portals to one process, including signing the Export Health Certificate.
The project also aims to have an Application Processing Interface (API) so allowing members to draw data and information from their own systems.
One key benefit will be to ensure there is a consistency of information and will minimise the opportunity for errors when transposing data like ‘seal’ and ‘vehicle’ numbers – which is missing or incorrect make it difficult to marry up documents with the correct load.
They also highlighted that it was vital that details on the CHED matched the information on the EHC and vice versa.
