We issued a notification about Webinars on the new IPAFFS system in late November.
The second phase of the transition to IPAFFS (Import of products, animals, food and feed system) started on 7th December 2020. This introduced the use of CHED-P and CHED-D documentation.
CHED-P is the Common Health Entry Document for consignments of products of animal origin, germinal products and animal by-products
CHED-D is the Common Health Entry Document for consignments of food and feed of non-animal origin.
We had hoped the Webinars on 24th November and 4th December would be recorded so that members who missed the live event could access a recording later, however this did not happen. Defra have however provided us with a copy of the presentation slides which we hope members will find useful. The presentation will provide you with practical steps on how to use the new system and will supporting you with key information for the transition.
If you are an importer of Live Animals and Germinal Products from the EU, you must continue to use IPAFFS as you do now. Please ignore this notice.
Please note: Imports into Northern Ireland must continue to be notified via TRACES NT
This presentation is not a detailed training session so please ensure you have viewed the following videos before going through the detail:
Along with the videos, quick reference guides are also available to support you:
Quick Reference Guide – CHEDP 1
Quick Reference Guide – CHEDD 1
Please note: You only need to register for IPAFFS if your current function is to create notifications on TRACES or TRACES NT, acting as the person responsible for the load.
If you haven’t already, register for IPAFFS. You will need a Government Gateway account to do this. Instructions can be found here: Business Readiness 1
If you are already registered for IPAFFS, please check that you have your Government Gateway ID and password. If you have forgotten these, or your memorable word, contact the APHA Service Desk on 03300 416 999 or email APHAServiceDesk@apha.gov.uk .
What you need to do now:
- Use IPAFFS for CHED-P and CHED-D imports to GB from 7 December
- The switch from Traces and Traces NT to IPAFFS for GB imports has taken place from 7th December at 6am.
- Any consignments still on Traces or Traces NT beyond 6am, or those that have not been cleared by 6am will require manual clearance via the National Clearance Hub
- Failure to enter this information onto IPAFFS may result in a delay to consignments being processed.
A flowchart is available to understand the process:
