The government is introducing import controls in stages. This will help businesses affected by coronavirus to get ready.
GB importers need to take the following steps to make sure they’re ready for the Stage 2 sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) import controls that apply from 1 April:
- Register for the Import of Products, Animals, Food and Feed System (IPAFFS) now. Registration is quick and easy on Gov.uk.
- Familiarise yourself on what you need to do to import goods into GB, and how your business will be affected. Find out more here.
If you import plants and plant products, you should continue to use PEACH for import notifications from 1 April.
With the date of the Government introducing further ‘import checks’ fast approaching (1st April 2021) Defra are running a whole series of webinars on IPAFFS for anyone who imports Products of Animal Origin – POAO.
There are two webinars on how to register on IPAFFS followed by regular webinars on dates from 22nd March to 31st March 2021.
