On Friday 29th April, the old format Export Health Certificate which allowed POAO imported into GB from EU or non-EU countries, to be re-exported back to the EU without undergoing *further processing was withdrawn.
This means that this form of ‘triangular trade’ is currently NOT possible (unless the EHC does not require animal health attestations, as is the case for example with honey).
On your behalf, we continue to raise your concerns and press for urgent resolution. However, we regret to inform members that despite discussions with the EU, Defra still don’t seem to have been given any clear legal basis by the EC as to why they will not permit this.
We will keep members updated with any further developments.
Note: vets can certify product of EU origin or EU approved 3rd country origin for re-export to NI under the standstill arrangement. This was reflected in the updated notes for guidance to vets http://apha.defra.gov.uk/documents/ov/Briefing-Note-1622.pdf
