Since 1st January 2021, all goods going to ROI required full EU Export Declaration process including an Export Health Certificate (EHC).
The Irish Customs and Revenue have been trying to support companies whose vehicles arrive with incomplete paperwork. This includes some flexibility on the official controls, although there has been less flexibility on the TAX controls. There have been delays due to this and this is based upon lower volumes than normal.
It is anticipated that the Irish authorities may well reduce the flexibility on the official controls. There still remain a lot of issues on the completion of EHC for composite products and the Federation are working with both other Trade bodies and Defra to provide clarification on these issues.
There is still much discussion between the UK and Irish authorities to find ways to simplify the processes, however, we are being advised there is only so far the Irish authorities can go as they are restricted by EU rules.
