We are now hearing that the issues first seen in the first few days of the new import controls on EU products of animal origin and high-risk products are now settling down.
Defra have now advised us that coding issues on IPAFF declarations are now resolved and that the work arounds they had advised us of are no longer required.
HMRC have also advised that the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) has now also seen an improvement with hauliers now understanding the need to use the tracker number.
There were also issues that vehicles were diverted to the wrong locations for possible checks, which they advise is also now resolved.
Defra have also stated that now they are starting to see live data it will help them to build models of demand and process flows, for when full controls are applied from 1st July on some product categories.
However, whist things may have settled down, we have been asked if BFFF members would like to contribute to an industry wide survey of the impacts of the new rules. This is being co-ordinated by the FDF to provide an aggregated view across the Food Supply chain. All responses will remain anonymous where used.
The survey is only 8 questions long and should take no longer than 5 mins to complete and can be found by following this link
