Following the Prime Ministers latest announcement regarding the national lockdown, we would like to remind you that BFFF guidance is available which covers the subject of freezing down chilled and ambient product to preserve shelf life.

Inevitably, many parts of the supply chain for the Out of Home sector will once again find that they have redundant stocks due to the closure of many restaurants and pubs, both independent and chains, cafes, coffee shops etc.

The BFFF Guidance may be used through this period when considering different freezing methods to preserve the shelf life of perfectly good food which would otherwise go to waste.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) also have advice on Bulk freezing of ambient and chilled foods that this guidance complements.  Whereas the BFFF guidance is aimed at Business to Business transactions, the FSA guidance encompasses retail supply and we would encourage you to read both documents.

Please feel free to share this information with your contacts through industry and do let us know should anyone have difficulty accessing as we would be happy to forward on a copy via email upon request to deniserion@bfff.co.uk
