As the new variant of Covid spreads through the country, Defra is very keen to understand the impact on rates of absence on the work force.

It would appear that the initial impact is being felt in the South East and London with companies reporting that rates of absence have moved up from 2-3% to 15-20% in the space of only a few days.

We are aware that a number of other trade bodies also collate this data. However, if member does not provide this data through another source and would like to support the BFFF in collating this information to support Defra with a national picture then please notify Jilly Wallis and we will establish a system to monitor.
