
Lateral flow testing in BFFF member companies is now underway this includes companies such as Brakes, Moy Park and many others.
The feedback so far mentions the process has been running smoothly with a good take up from employees completing consent forms and taking part on a voluntary basis.
Many have reported successes in identifying those asymptomatic, in some cases they have mentioned this to be circa 4% of employees testing positive. It seems that lateral flow testing has proved more effective than first thought.
Some companies have been testing employees daily and including those visiting such as contractors, drivers and returning homeworkers on an adhoc basis.
The registration and testing of employees has said to have been straight forward using individual booths. Some members have mentioned waiting areas can become pinch points, this because employees have to wait 30 minutes awaiting test results, companies should be mindful of having adequate waiting social distanced waiting areas following testing.
We recently mentioned in another article that Defra has now announced they are removing the requirement for the confirmatory PCR testing if lateral flow shows a positive result from the 27th January.
