The BFFF continues to monitor the Omicron variant situation and attends the food resilience forum. It was mentioned that factories should ensure COVID measures resume as before at the height of the pandemic including social distancing in factories.

Vaccination is paramount, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has recently stated; ‘Omicron has an unprecedented number of spike mutations, some of which are concerning for their potential impact on the trajectory of the pandemic, the prospect of the new variant transmission directly relates to lower areas of vaccination’ 

There is sufficient evidence that Omicron is spreading incredibly fast, the requirements for England and the devolved nations do vary considerably therefore we have created the following table below which was accurate on the 14th December 2021:
