We have heard of many companies using walk-through disinfectant systems. We reiterate the HSE guidance below that fogging during the COVID-19 pandemic does not replace the four basic precautions of:

  • Adequate ventilation,
  • frequent cleaning,
  • regular handwashing,
  • and reducing contact for workers (so each person works with the same, consistent group).

Companies need to be aware that spraying disinfectants, even outdoors, can be dangerous to people’s health and cause eye, respiratory or skin irritation or damage.

The HSE produces the following guidance for duty holders which potential users should study carefully and complete a risk assessment before using.
