If multiple COVID cases are identified in the workplace, the criteria for reporting to Public Health England (PHE) has now changed from 2 to 5 cases or more within 14 days in the workplace.

NHS Test and Trace in the workplace – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Changes to the definition of close contact for employee within 2 metres is:

  • More than 15 minutes as a one off,
  • Cumulative contact of 15 minutes (added up over one day).

In addition, other updates to guidance are as follows:

  • Removed: ‘skin to skin contact’
  • Added in: A contact is a person who has been close to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
  • Simplified wording on transport contacts: ‘same vehicle or plane’
