The Mental Health & Wellbeing webinar video is now available, HSE resource and revised government guidance
Recently, Dr Tim Marsh from Anker Marsh gave us a holistic overview of mental health & wellbeing. If you missed this webinar you can still view it on our website, see link: https://bfff.co.uk/webinars/mental-health-and-wellbeing-webinar/
We reminded those attending of the statistics relating to mental health, these before Covid-19 ever existed:
- 600,000 workers suffering from work related stress, depression, or anxiety in the UK.
- Nearly 13 Million lost days due to the same.
- Suicides in the UK and Republic of Ireland – Men 4903 and Women 1604.
- Suicides in working age people around 5000 every year, people you work with every single day
The HSE has resources on its website for both line managers and employees which includes case studies, the management standards and a tackling stress workbook.

Government has also just revised its COVID-19 for the public on mental health & wellbeing which would be useful for employees in what can help your mental health and wellbeing. This goes into considerable detail and addresses the following key areas:

- Consider how to connect with others,
- Help and support others,
- Talk about your worries.,
- Look after your physical wellbeing,
- Seek advice and support if you smoke or use drugs or alcohol,
- Look after your sleep,
- Try to manage difficult feelings,
- Get the facts,
- Do things you enjoy,
- Set goals,
- Keep your mind active,
- Take time to relax and focus on the present,
- If you can, get outside.
