We would like to remind you that BFFF guidance is available which covers the subject of freezing down chilled and ambient product to preserve shelf life.
With the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid and the inevitable rise in the number of people having to self-isolate, many parts of the supply chain may once again find that they have redundant stocks of food.
The BFFF Guidance may be used through this period when considering different freezing methods to preserve the shelf life of perfectly good food which would otherwise go to waste.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) also have advice on Bulk freezing of ambient and chilled foods that this guidance complements. Whereas the BFFF guidance is aimed at Business-to-Business transactions, the FSA guidance encompasses retail supply and we would encourage you to read both documents.
