The announcement by the Chancellor for more support for the hospitality and leisure sectors is welcomed. However yet again the government have failed to understand that the impact on these two sectors is also felt by the wider supply chain.

Also, the impact is immediate with orders being cancelled overnight where consumer-facing outlets see their trade fall off a cliff.

The Federation has written to the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak highlighting their inconsistency and urging him to extend the support to the wider supply chain.

We also hope that any support provided comes far quicker than the additional £1.5 million Business Rates Relief Fund announced in March 2021, yet only now can companies start to apply for their support, some nine months later.
