Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR)
DSEAR is relevant predominately to refrigeration plants using Ammonia as a refrigerant. HSE has indicated that they have identified a number of broad areas of none compliance to the DSEAR regulations by the food industry, particularly food manufacturers. HSE are due to re-issue revised guidance on the use of Ammonia this year and this will potentially be one of their focus areas. As such we are now researching our members to gauge the current level of compliance to DSEAR and exploring how best to support members.
