Endurance Bandathon Raise Thousands in Charity Challenge
After taking part in a non-stop charity ‘Race the Sun Challenge’ from sunrise to sunset of cycling, climbing and kayaking around the Brecon beacons in support of Action Medical Research, four businessmen and friends from the Midlands have managed to raise a whopping £5,090 with money still coming in.
Group leader, Christian Shuker commented: “Our original fundraising target was £2,000 so to have not only doubled but smashed it is fantastic!
“We are so grateful to the many businesses and individuals who have not only donated but have supported us in so many ways throughout our training and to our families who have been brilliant.”
Calling themselves Team Wrong Direction, the friends decided to support Action Medical Research as it is the leading UK-wide charity working to help save and change children’s lives through medical research for those children affected by rare conditions. Almost everyone in the UK will have benefitted in some way by Action Medical Research’s pioneering work which includes the first polio vaccines, ultrasound in pregnancy and the rubella vaccine.
Added Christian: “As we’re all fathers we wanted to support the charity’s work, which is for so many children across the UK the only lifeline available.”
