Erudus partners with Nielsen Brandbank to revolutionise food industry data
Nielsen Brandbank and Erudus have joined forces to provide wholesalers and caterers with an unprecedented data pool of product information that significantly benefits manufacturers too.
The partnership will further enable foodservice businesses in the UK and Ireland to adhere to strict European regulations that came into force in December 2014 governing labelling and consumer access to allergen and nutritional data.
Erudus encompasses 33,000 brand-entered product specifications and is already used by 93 wholesalers and 85,000 caterers for essential attribute data. Nielsen Brandbank, which is used by 98 per cent of UK FMCG suppliers, captures, creates and syndicates digital product content that fuels ecommerce success for its customers.
Via the syndication partnership, Nielsen Brandbank will now share high-quality images, plus nutritional and allergen data, captured and managed in conjunction with thousands of brands serving both food retail and service sectors.
Jon Shayler, chief operating officer of Erudus, said: “This is a huge milestone for Erudus which is already making waves in the foodservice industry.
“Joining forces with Nielsen Brandbank significantly enhances the benefits of Erudus for all three of our member communities. Suppliers only have to enter data into one system as opposed to both. Wholesalers will benefit from a threefold increase in specifications and core-data sets, including images, whilst Erudus already makes the lives of caterers much easier by supplying the same brand-entered information at the click of a button.
“Adhering to the EU legislation is a challenge for companies.. We strongly believe in collaboration wherever possible to increase efficiency and reduce the costs for all communities.
“Erudus provides wholesalers and caterers with trusted data and the confidence it has been entered by the manufacturers themselves, thereby reducing the risk of error and mitigating any liability to brand owner.
“We’re thrilled to work with Nielsen Brandbank and look forward to seeing Erudus users benefit.
Philip Gabillia, Western Europe commercial director for Nielsen Brandbank, added: “The Nielsen Brandbank and Erudus partnership unites the UK food retail and service sectors to provide a consolidated solution to the challenge of capturing, managing and distributing accurate product information between brand manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. One industry – powered by one unified solution.”
