HSE are looking for participants to help understand COVID-19 virus transmission risk, by studying physical interactions in the workplace.

The Wear-It Study, part of the PROTECT COVID-19 National Core Study, aims to collate and generate highly detailed data on workers’ interactions to support national efforts to better understand and control the risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus which causes COVID-19).

To that effect, small wearable proximity devices will be provided to willing workers at participating workplaces to generate the quality contact data which is needed but is currently lacking. Small static beacons will also be deployed in the workplace to provide an indication of the location of these contacts.

Workplaces of interest include food and drinks manufacturing, warehouses and distribution centres, general manufacturing sites and large offices.

Your help is needed

  • If your organisation is willing to take part, then HSE would seek volunteers from your workforce to wear a device while at work
  • If you are already using similar technologies to help maintain social distancing on your sites, HSE would be very grateful if you were willing to discuss the possibility of sharing anonymised contact data with the study team

If you are interested, please read the invitation letter or contact the study team by:
