We are a small freezing factory based in Naivasha, Kenya, specializing in the production of handcrafted bespoke frozen fruit and vegetable products. Our mission is to deliver high-quality frozen food products while supporting local agriculture and sustainable practices.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Manager to oversee our entire production process, from farm to fork. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in frozen food processing, with expertise in managing production teams, optimizing manufacturing processes, and driving business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Production Operations: Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the freezing factory, ensuring efficient production processes from receipt of raw materials to final product shipment.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to uphold product standards and compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Optimize Production Processes: Identify opportunities to mechanize and streamline production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining product integrity.
  • Equipment and Machinery Management: Manage and maintain production equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime through regular maintenance and upgrades.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a diverse team of production staff, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to ensure a high-performance work environment.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods to meet production schedules and customer demands.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategies for business growth, expansion into new markets, and enhancement of product offerings.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage production budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety standards.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety awareness and adherence to best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree would be a plus.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a managerial role within the frozen food production industry, with a solid understanding of freezing processes, equipment, and machinery.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving production goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, optimize processes, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Commercial acumen and experience in developing and executing business strategies to drive growth and profitability.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, food safety standards (HACCP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
