Backed by over 90 years of history, craft and quality baking is truly at the heart of all the great things they do. Today the Village Team produce a wide range of premium private-label goods as well as their own award-winning brand. These items range from ‘slowdough’ bread, morning goods, on-the-go food products (slices, sausage rolls and pies) to delicious ‘free-from’ offerings.

About the Role
Heading up a strong Commercial Team, the key purpose of this role will be to plan, develop and implement commercial strategies based on company targets, objectives and capabilities with the main goal of supporting and accelerating an ambitious growth agenda.
This role is based in Wrexham and as such candidates must anticipate 2 – 3 days per week office-based, with the remaining time spent in various locations throughout the UK meeting customers. Candidates should therefore live within a commutable distance to the office or have a willingness to relocate.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of delivering profitable business growth in the fresh food sector, with bakery experience being a bonus. A comprehensive knowledge of key players and networks within the major multiple buying teams is also essential for this role.
With significant focus on the ‘Top-4’ retailers, discounters and emerging markets, viable commercial results and growth will be delivered through;
- an entrepreneurial spirit
- being ambitious to treble the sales line whilst managing the P&L lines
- having a mixture of private label and branded experience in fresh foods
- clear and concise communication style relating to people at all levels
- motivating and leading a great sales team and leading by example
- demonstrable experience of improving salesforce effectiveness via target cascades, pipeline tracking, performance meetings and other such mechanisms
- a track record of building strong internal teams across functions.
To be considered for this role you will need to have a proven background in a commercial role supplying fresh, own-label food to UK retailers. You will have a proven track record of sales and customer management and be able to lead a team. In short – you will need to be a brilliant commercial professional with significant supermarket own-label food and team leadership experience.
