Oakland International Win Corporate Social Responsibility Award at Family Business Awards
Oakland International has won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at this year’s Midlands Family Business Awards 2016 held at the University of Birmingham’s Great Hall Awards Ceremony on Thursday 17th November.
Winning the Corporate Social Responsibility Award for their work with children’s charity The Oakland Foundation, which was officially launched in 2013 by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, supports children living in Redditch and Bromsgrove and the surrounding area in need by reason of disadvantage or financial hardship, through activities relating to Health and Nutrition, Education and Sport.
Oakland International CSR Lead and Oakland Foundation Trustee, Luke Attwell, stated: “As a socially responsible family business it is a huge honour and privilege to win the Corporate Social Responsibility Award category, which is formal acknowledgement of Oakland’s forward thinking, community focused culture and long-term commitment to incorporate sustainability, innovation and change.”
Oakland International invests circa £50,000 per year to the work of the Foundation as well as offering the opportunity for all employees to volunteer for the Foundation. Each year since the charity began, greater employee numbers year on year are now actively contributing and supporting their local community through the Foundation.
Mr Attwell added: “We are delighted to be recognised for our work through the Oakland Foundation charity, and to be able to make real and lasting change to the lives of so many young people and children across the local area.”
