Following on from the update regarding the availability of Caustic soda , we would like to remind members of the advice we gave to NOT build stocks.
We’re hearing some reports of businesses purchasing large bulk containers of Caustic and then storing them incorrectly.
Caustic must be maintained at a temperature above 21°C (ideally between 29° to 38°C), to prevent freezing. Tanks and pipes should be insulated and traced to prevent the solution from freezing.
Failure to properly maintain temperature can lead to decreased efficiency, clogging, and production downtime.
If members have any questions or concerns, then we would recommend they seek the expert advice of their supplier.
