Speciality Breads Launch New Malted Ciapanini Made With Kentish Rapeseed Oil

Red Tractor-certified Speciality Breads has added to its award-winning ciabatta range with the launch of a new Malted Ciapanini roll made with Kent’s finest cold-pressed rapeseed oil.

Speciality Breads Malted ciapaniniThis unique ciabatta-panini cross is being targeted at the foodservice sector and offers a malted moreish flavour profile – perfect for an array of hot and cold fillings.   The 100g rolls come in boxes of 40 and cost approximately 60p per unit.

The roll out of this new line will signify a big change for Speciality Breads as it replaces olive oil with Kentish Oils’ cold-pressed rapeseed oil across its whole ciabatta and focaccia ranges from June.

With 12 months of testing behind them in preparation for the move, Speciality Breads believes the change not only increases taste quality but will strengthen its Red Tractor and British-made credentials, decrease food miles and avert risk from the instability of supply and quality of extra virgin olive oil.

Speciality Breads’ Managing Director Peter Millen explains:

Speciality Breads IMG_9532“Our Red Tractor credentials have helped set us apart within the market and generate a reputation for providing the finest British-made breads to the foodservice sector. With our home county of Kent producing some of the best cold pressed rapeseed oil available, we began looking at the option of a change last year as a way of improving flavour, supporting local producers and getting closer to our aim of offering products that are quite literally British born and bred. With various threats surrounding the olive oil industry exacerbating in recent months, whether that’s from counterfeit oil, product inconsistency or supply problems, we’re delighted to be making this positive change.”

Grown in Thanet and pressed in Birchington, just four miles from Speciality Breads’ HQ in Margate, Kentish Oils’ cold pressed rapeseed oil is Red Tractor-certified and has seen strong demand in recent years, thanks to its impressive health benefits, delicate flavour and popularity amongst many of the nation’s leading celebrity chefs.  Rapeseed oil contains less saturated fats than all other cooking oils and provides increased levels of the favourable mono-unsaturated and polyunsaturated omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids.  It is also high in vitamin E.

Laura Bounds, Kentish Oils’ Commercial Director said;

“We’re delighted to have been selected by Speciality Breads as sole supplier of cold pressed rapeseed oil for use in the creation of their unique range of artisan breads.  Speciality Breads are the epitome of a successful artisan food producer and on our doorstep in Margate!  We are very proud to have become their newest Red Tractor accredited supplier and look forward to a long and productive business relationship.”

Jonothan Draper, Trade Marketing Manager, Red Tractor Assurance commented:

“Its great news that Speciality Breads continue to reinforce their British credentials by using Red Tractor producer Kentish Rapeseed oils, not only in the production of their new Malted Ciapanini but their entire ciabatta and focaccia ranges.  Moving to source only British is a step ahead within the baking industry and clearly demonstrates Speciality Breads ongoing commitment to Red Tractor and British Farming.”
