The European Commission has published a consultation, on reducing packaging waste. The Commission will review the requirements on packaging and packaging waste in the EU. This will include assessing how to:
- improve packaging design to promote reuse and recycling
- increase recycled content in packaging
- tackle excessive packaging
- reduce packaging waste.
At the time of writing this article, the feedback period is open until 3 March 2023, however, the deadline may keep being extended until the proposal is available in all EU languages.
