The new prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) law, also known as Natasha’s Law, comes into effect in less than a months time on 1 October. By this point, all PPDS food will need to have a label with the name of the product and full ingredient information with allergens highlighted on it.
To help raise awareness of the upcoming deadline, the FSA will be running targeted advertising between 2nd – 15th September as a way to remind businesses and signpost guidance and tools that can support them.
The FSA have published their PPDS food labelling webinar, which features BFFF member, Greggs. Claire Florey, Greggs’ Food Safety and Regulatory Affairs Manager, who is also member of the BFFF Technical Expert Group, spoke on the webinar with her colleague Mark to provide an update on the changes Greggs have made to their business to comply with the new regulations. You are able to watch the full webinar here.
The FSA have also pulled together a PPDS toolkit for food business, have sector-specific guidance and allergen resources for food businesses available on their website, click here.
