From the 1st of October 2020, single-use plastic will be banned within England and you will not be able to supply or sell single-use plastic:

  • straws and cotton buds to end-users in England (you can continue to supply single-use plastic straws and cotton buds to other businesses)
  • drink stirrers to end-users and businesses in England

The ban applies to all businesses, including manufacturers and retailers, supplying these products and businesses who do not stop selling or supplying the items, could receive a fine.

Any plastic straws, cotton buds and drinks stirrers purchased prior to 1st October 2020 can still be sold or supplied to use up leftover stock up until 1st April 2021.

From 3rd July 2021, drinks with single use plastic straws attached to the packaging can no longer be supplied.
