Members may have seen recent media reports regarding concerns about Carbon Dioxide (CO2) supply. Such reports are thought to have been driven by rising costs of energy on fertilizer companies in Europe, of which CO2 is a by-product, and the announcement that Government is to invest £100m to reopen the Ensus CO2 plant in Teeside.
BFFF member Buse Gases, would like to offer their reassurances and confirm:
“We see no shortages on CO2 only further planning and development of regional CO2 production facilities to minimise logistics cost and cost impacts from Europe as we grow and add supply chain resilience for our clients”.
Read on for further detail and information of how Buse Ltd can help you.
Our focus is simple:
The UK Government has taken decisive action to secure the nation’s critical CO₂ supply essential for nuclear energy, food production, healthcare, carbonation of drinks and welding and fabrication by temporarily restarting the Ensus bioethanol plant in Wilton, Teesside.
At BUSE Gas Ltd, we have spent many years building a sustainable and resilient CO₂ supply network, producing CO₂ through post-combustion processes and anaerobic digestion that avoids the impact of fertiliser CO2 production that has impacted supplies for generations.
Our food and beverage-grade CO₂ is currently generated across six strategically located facilities throughout the UK, enabling us to deliver an agile, reliable, and cost-effective supply to clients nationwide. However, unlike some suppliers, our UK-generated CO₂ is NOT dependent on European sources, which may prioritise domestic demand during periods of shortage or incur increased costs due to overseas production and transportation.
This independence allows us to provide a consistent and secure supply, helping our clients safeguard energy generation, maintain healthcare services, and support food production without disruption.
In an increasingly uncertain global landscape, our approach strengthens supply security for critical UK industries and protecting them against rising costs, unexpected shutdowns, product shortages, force majeure risks, and ongoing supply chain volatility.
We welcome enquiries from organisations requiring CO₂ or wider industrial gas supplies, as well as those interested in partnering with us to further strengthen supply resilience and ensure vital services remain dependable and cost efficient here across the UK.
We source our CO2 outside of the traditional supply chain, from various recovery processes, which include Post Combustion, Anaerobic Digestion and
Bio-ethanol production.
