StoreLogs Ltd, a family run business with over 43 years of experience and industry experts in temperature controlled storage & logistics, is proud to announce a significant £13 million expansion at it’s headquarters on Langthwaite Business Park in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire.
The development includes the construction of a new 46,250 sq ft temperature-controlled storage facility, which will add capacity for more than 12,800 pallets to the company’s existing depot and head office operations.
The new single-skin building will operate at temperatures as low as -24°C and incorporate advanced refrigeration technology designed to exceed the UK’s best practice benchmarks for energy performance. Appointed contractor, Russell WBHO, will deliver the project, including insulated cladding, mobile racking systems, full mechanical and electrical services, and the construction of an external service yard.
StoreLogs’ roots trace back to 1983, when the Marr family established Preston Cold Store, with further expansions taking place throughout the 1990s. In 2007, the business expanded into South Kirkby, acquiring the current site along with a fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles. Continued growth saw the formation of The Ice Co Storage & Logistics in 2010 as part of the J Marr Group.
The company has since experienced steady expansion, including the acquisition of sites in Newcastle and Glasgow in 2013, along with the appointment of Managing Director Paul Martin. Glasgow was subsequently sold in 2019. In 2022, the business demerged from the J Marr Group and rebranded as StoreLogs. That same year, StoreLogs Holdings acquired Savage Haulage as a subsidiary, which began operational integration with StoreLogs in 2024. The latest expansion marks another major milestone in the company’s growth, with the new facility set to accommodate an additional 13,000 pallet spaces.
Managing Director Paul Martin expressed his enthusiasm for the project adding
“We are incredibly excited to see this development take shape. This isn’t just about expanding our storage capacity; it’s about pushing the business forward and investing in the future. With the support of a dedicated and driven team, we are constantly looking for ways to innovate and improve every aspect of what we do.”
He continued, “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s ensuring the highest standards in temperature-controlled storage or delivering customer orders efficiently and reliably, we always aim to go the extra mile. This new facility will enable us to serve our customers even better and continue building long-term partnerships.”
Gareth Russell, Managing Director of Russell WBHO, commented, “This contract builds on our extensive experience in the temperature-controlled sector. Following a collaborative design process, our specialist in-house team is delivering a unit that will significantly boost capacity, efficiency and environmental sustainability at StoreLogs’ head office site. The refrigeration system provides industry-leading temperature control and has been proven to reduce carbon emissions.”
This project highlights StoreLogs’ ongoing growth and commitment to strengthening its capabilities within the logistics sector. Once complete, the new facility will play a key role in supporting both existing and new clients, further reinforcing the company’s reputation for quality, reliability, and innovation.
Construction is now underway, with the project scheduled for completion in May 2027.
