WHY LEADING FROZEN FOOD BUSINESSES ARE TURNING TO SEAFAST

Customs. Compliance. Cold Chain.

“Seafast is uniquely positioned to control the movement of temperature-controlled cargo from quayside to customer, whilst navigating increasingly complex customs and border requirements.

Why Leading Frozen Food Businesses Are Turning to Seafast

In today’s trading environment, moving frozen and chilled products efficiently requires more than storage and transport.

It requires a logistics partner that understands customs, compliance, border controls, temperature integrity and supply chain resilience.

At Seafast, we combine industry-leading customs expertise with a true port-centric logistics model, helping importers and exporters reduce costs, simplify operations and keep products moving.

The UK’s Most Strategic Cold Chain Location

Our Felixstowe operation is located less than a quarter of a mile from the UK’s largest container port, creating a genuinely port-centric solution at scale. The facility was designed specifically to help customers gain greater control over inventory, reduce complexity and improve supply chain efficiency.

The Benefits:

  • Reduced transport costs
  • Improved inventory visibility
  • Faster access to imported stock
  • Reduced detention and quay-rent exposure
  • Improved cash flow
  • Lower carbon footprint
  • End-to-end supply chain control
  • Easier access to UK distribution networks

The traditional movement of containers between port and inland distribution centres creates unnecessary costs, empty miles and added risk. Our port-centric model removes these inefficiencies, giving customers quicker access to their products when they need them, while reducing the risk of loose-loaded containerised cargo requiring handball being rejected at inland DCs due to late arrival caused by traffic congestion or other unforeseen infrastructure delays.

Customs Expertise That Protects Your Supply Chain

For many food importers and exporters, customs processes have become one of the most significant risks within the supply chain.

Whether dealing with:

  • CDS declarations
  • SPS requirements
  • Border Control Posts
  • GVMS processes
  • IPAFFS notifications
  • Commodity classifications
  • Rules of Origin
  • Import and Export procedures

our dedicated customs team works as an extension of your business to ensure goods move compliantly and efficiently across borders.

The reality is simple:  The strongest supply chain in the world means little if the cargo cannot clear the border.

That is why customs expertise sits at the centre of everything we do.

State-of-the-Art Cold Chain Infrastructure

Backed by a £90 million investment, the Felixstowe Mega Distribution Centre delivers one of the UK’s most significant cold chain developments. The site provides up to 750,000 sq ft of logistics infrastructure, with Seafast operating a frozen chamber initially equivalent to approximately 17,000 pallet positions and expandable to 34,000 pallet positions.

Our customers benefit from:

  • Automated handling technology
  • High-density storage solutions
  • Temperature-controlled warehousing
  • Integrated customs and freight services
  • Improved stock accuracy
  • Greater supply chain visibility

Trusted Experience When It Matters Most

The food supply chain continues to face significant challenges, including storage shortages, infrastructure constraints, port delays and ongoing global supply disruptions. Seafast brings more than 21 years of experience delivering bespoke cold chain supply chain solutions, helping customers maintain continuity even during periods of market uncertainty.

One Partner. Complete Control.

From vessel arrival through customs clearance, cold storage, inventory management and onward distribution, Seafast provides a fully integrated solution for frozen food businesses.

This means:

  • Fewer suppliers to manage
  • Greater visibility
  • Faster decision-making
  • Improved compliance
  • Lower operational costs
  • Increased supply chain resilience

Let’s Start a Conversation

Whether you’re importing frozen seafood, meat, poultry, vegetables, dairy or ingredients, Seafast can help you unlock a more efficient, compliant and cost-effective supply chain.
