Almondy Feels Good After Raising Over £7,500 For Katie Piper Foundation
Following a week-long drive on social media, gluten-free baker Almondy has raised a further £2,000 for the Katie Piper Foundation – bringing the grand total donated to the charity dedicated to helping survivors of burns and scars to over £7,500.
In a push to raise both awareness and funds, Twitter users were encouraged to follow and share what made them #FeelGood on www.twitter.com/almondycake, with Almondy donating £3 for every participant. Followers were rewarded with the chance to win a signed copy of Katie Piper’s latest book, and, for one lucky winner, a pamper day for two worth £150.
Commenting on the activity, Andrew Ely, Managing Director, Almondy, says: “This year’s focus was about feeling good. The Katie Piper Foundation works tirelessly to support those living with burns and scars and we hope the money raised goes some way to continuing their vital work. I am thrilled that we have managed to raise such a significant amount and our amazing followers should feel incredibly proud of their achievement.”
Over three years, Almondy has raised £7,683 for the Katie Piper Foundation which supports people through scar management advice, workshops focused on well-being and social activities, as well as access to specialist treatments.
Commenting on the milestone, Carla Cornwell, Head of Fundraising at The Katie Piper Foundation said: “Almondy have been remarkable in their fundraising for The Katie Piper Foundation for many years, but this recent surge of generosity really stands out. The charity receives no government funding and so relies totally on creative ways of fundraising just like the #FeelGood online drive. To all of those who followed and shared – you have followed in Katie’s footsteps by making burns scars easier to live with and shared the chance to shine after devastating injuries. A huge thank you to Almondy for such a special donation and for making so many people feel good!”
Raising £2,000 for the foundation is the latest in a series of celebrations for Almondy this year. 2016 marks the Swedish baker’s 11th year in UK foodservice, as well as the 15th anniversary of its globally best-selling Daim Cake. The UK’s largest gluten-free frozen dessert brand has also released a gluten and lactose free chocolate cake for the first time – helping caterers to meet the growing demand for free-from options out-of-home.
