SHE Advisor
Role purpose
Reporting to the Safety and Environment (SHE) Manager, the SHE Advisor will ensure ongoing compliance of the Gloucester site with relevant Unilever SHE guidelines, National and European SHE legislation. They will provide support and advice to the operational and technical teams on site as required. The SHE Advisor will manage the site’s Safety Management system. And wherever possible seek to implement best practice SHE management for all areas of site, aligning with the UK business.
Responsibilities
The SHE Advisor will support and deploy the occupational safety strategy for site, oversee all accident and incident investigations, manage the safety inspection program and maintain the risk assessment library. They will provide specialist advice and guidance in expert areas of DSEAR, hazardous substances, process safety, risk control and risk reduction. The SHE Advisor is required to support the Environmental Lead with contact with the Environment Agency managing the sites Environmental Permit and ensure ongoing duty of care compliance and that brand protection is maintained and enforced for all applicable waste streams onsite.
Skills / Experience
Minimum NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in occupational health and safety or equivalent (NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma preferred).
Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA certificate) or relevant experience.
Ability to influence and engage with people at all levels of the business.
Computer literate – Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
Demonstration of continual professional development.
The ideal candidate will have gained experience as a SHE professional in a manufacturing environment and hold a relevant undergraduate degree (scientific or engineering preferred).
Good basic knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and WCM are advantageous.
