Mentor Training, the UK’s leading provider of materials handling and safety management training, is set to offer a unique challenge to visitors at this year’s Health & Safety Event.
With the UK witnessing around 1300 serious injuries per year from accidents involving forklift trucks, Mentor emphasise that it is as important as ever to ensure that those working on and around workplace transport understand the risks they face day to day.
To help explore visitors’ forklift safety knowledge, the market-leaders have created an exclusive hazard perception challenge, which tasks attendees with identifying potential risks captured on video in a real working environment. Viewers gain unique insight into a day in the life of an operator and the hazards encountered along the way.
Commercial Director, Adam Smith, explains Mentor’s objective, “For those visiting the show, our challenge provides a fun, engaging way to test your existing knowledge of good and bad operating practice. It’s this understanding that affects your ability to keep yourself and others safe at work.”
“The challenge puts you in the driver’s seat and works in a similar fashion to the hazard perception section of a theory driving test for a car. By allowing you to see various working scenarios in action, we hope this interactive tool can help to raise awareness of key forklift safety principles and the need for vigilance from all parties to reduce risk.”
With over 30 years’ experience and a broad range of accredited courses on offer, Mentor believe a trip to their stand is well worth visitors’ time. Adam explains further, “We’re really excited to speak to people that are as passionate about safety as we are.”
“We work with businesses of all types and sizes on a nationwide scale and provide fully accredited training on a wide variety of equipment, including forklift trucks and cranes. We also deliver IOSH training, as well as our own exclusive safety management courses, available face-to-face or via e-learning for added flexibility. Whatever your requirements, we can help to keep your business safe, compliant and profitable.”
The Health & Safety Event returns to the NEC in Birmingham from 30th April to 2nd May 2024. Registration is free and the event includes a full seminar programme, as well as live demos and hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the latest health and safety products and services.
