Mark White, who now heads up the Grocery Code Adjudicator, held a webinar on 29th July 2021.
Key highlights are they received a total of 2,598 responses to their survey this year, which was an increase of 60% over the survey held in 2020.
Of the companies, or organisations, completing the survey 29% reported code compliance issues, whilst the lowest since the survey has been run, it still means just under 30% of suppliers have issues.
Sainsbury’s was identified as the most compliant retailer achieving a score of 98%, closely followed by Aldi and Co-op on 97%.
Mark also highlighted that 8 retailers improved their net performance this year, which was 2 more than last year’s report.
The top three issues highlighted by those completing the survey were:
- No compensation for poor forecasting errors/not preparing forecasts with due care.
- Delay in payments.
- Obligation to contribute to marketing costs.
Mark also highlighted that with most retailers reviewing range spacing this has led to concerns about how de-listings are notified and dealt with. There still remains concerns about respective financial audits.
