Oakland International Win at Grocer Gold Awards 2016

UK and Ireland supply chain specialists Oakland has won the Business Initiative of the Year Award at The Grocer Gold Awards 2016 for their distressed load management service held at the Guildhall, London on Tuesday 14th June 2016.

A responsible family business supplying major UK and Irish retail, wholesale, discount and convenience markets from their UK and Ireland depots, Oakland was selected for their innovative Distressed Load Management service, whereby food losses are minimized for customers, loss adjusters and hauliers on distressed loads.

A valuable service which delivers notable environmental benefits for customers, Oakland is helping lead the way in innovation and industry change, with their advanced business approach and investment in a variety of energy efficient technologies and green initiatives, cutting their carbon footprint and energy consumption significantly.

Capable of saving up to 80% of produce and with nothing going to landfill, to date Oakland International has recovered around 1,800 tonnes of food with all remaining food waste forwarded to anaerobic digestion plant centres where it is then used for renewable energy.
