MARSHALL FLEET SOLUTIONS LAUNCHES 2020 APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

Part of the management ethos at Cambridge company Marshall Fleet Solutions (MFS) is investing in its people. MFS has recently announced an expansion in its current Apprenticeship Programme for 2020, with 10 new apprentices soon to be joining this scheme, working at their local MFS regional depots around the UK, as part of a 3-year Apprenticeship Development Programme.

MFS will now have 15 engineering apprentices employed on a full-time basis within the business, which includes both male and female apprentice engineers, which is unusual in the commercial vehicle industry.

“At Marshall Fleet Solutions, we believe it’s not just about the front-end capital sale and, as a conscious and passionate player within this industry, it’s equally about what we, as a business, can put back into the industry we all work within.  By building on the success of our existing industry-leading Apprenticeship Programme, we are looking forward to our new recruits joining us over the coming weeks and starting their new lives as ‘Marshall Engineers’. They will undoubtedly play an integral and important part of our future development.” said Mark Howell, managing director, Marshall Fleet Solutions.

Later this month, the 10 new apprentice interns will join the successful MFS Apprenticeship Programme that is run through the established Marshall Centre in Cambridge, the dedicated Marshall Group training arm that has successfully developed over 20,000 apprentices since its inception over 100 years ago.

Each MFS apprentice will be working towards their Level 3 qualification within the City & Guilds Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump – Engineering Technician Standard and will gain a real-world, hands-on experience of working within the cold chain logistics environment with the MFS branch network, backed up by regular classroom training and coursework.

As an MFS refrigeration engineering apprentice, they will be exposed to a range of knowledge, skills and behaviours required to meet this engineering technician standard, which will ultimately lead to a long-term career development programme within the MFS organisation.

“Within the commercial vehicle sector, there is a growing need to bring new fresh young talent into the industry, and at MFS we are playing our part with the provision of this approved apprenticeship scheme, which hopefully the marketplace and customers alike will acknowledge. Nobody in our industry sector does apprenticeships quite like we do, and today we are recruiting, and developing, the MFS refrigeration engineers of the future, whilst also looking to add Tail Lift Apprentices to this programme in the coming months and years,” commented Mark Howell.

BIOMETHANE CERTIFICATION SCHEME NOW HOSTED ON GREEN GAS TRADING WEBSITE

The Biomethane Certification Scheme (BMCS) has been given a makeover throughout the last 12 months and is now hosted on the Green Gas Trading (GGT) website. The BMCS is a UK based registry for administering biomethane certificates that are commonly known as green gas certificates.

GGT owns and operates the scheme for producers, traders, suppliers, and end-consumers of green gas and biomethane. The scheme currently has the lowest lifecycle costs of certificates in the UK and has 23 biomethane plants registered to the scheme that are ‘greening the grid’.

The purpose of the company is to enable producers to divorce the “green value” of their product from the easily priced commodity of gas. This allows producers to generate income from their green credentials whilst the consumers of the certificates can provide evidence to a final customer that a given share or quantity of energy was produced from renewable sources, which is biomethane in this case.

The new website provides:

  • a tendering page for buying and selling surplus certificates
  • a list of our current producers, traders, and suppliers.
  • information on certificate use and Green Gas Trading’s Biomethane Certification Scheme (BMCS)
  • Member-only access for viewing quarterly reports and uploading tenders
  • joining and scheme fees
  • example certificates
  • information for support with the Grexel registry

The leadership team includes specialists in AD, trading, and law. The company will continue to drive the green gas industry forwards in the interests of its producers, suppliers and consumers.

MFS LAUNCHES MARSHALL ASSIST CONTRACT MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME

As part of its ongoing customer service programme, Marshall Fleet Solutions has launched Marshall ASSIST, a dedicated contract maintenance operation devised by the company to maximise customer’s fleet uptime through a range of optimised maintenance and repair programmes.

According to Mark Howell, managing director at Marshall Fleet Solutions, “Marshall ASSIST is a unique total service support programme that has been designed exclusively by MFS, specifically for our customers. With Marshall ASSIST contract maintenance plans, it is our aim to maximise the reliability and uptime of customer’s vehicles, so that their fleets are out on the road, earning revenue for their business at all times.”

Across each and every product and service within its portfolio, MFS is currently working with the latest technology to ensure that its customers are provided with the best products, with the best service, and with the best aftermarket support at all times.

Mark continues, “Uniquely, Marshall ASSIST contract maintenance programmes are tailored to individual customer needs, allowing them to decide the level of support that is right for their fleet.”

Marshall ASSIST covers both transport refrigeration requirements and tail lift/lifting deck equipment (or both), through three different levels of comprehensive support.

Platinum +             Platinum           Gold

These flexible plans have been devised exclusively by MFS to provide a range of fixed cost, service and maintenance packages that will give customer the optimum level of product support to keep their fleets operating efficiently and effectively.

With Marshall ASSIST, customers can fix their service and maintenance costs over a specified term that suits their individual business operations, and fleet profile, including equipment, age and running hours.

Marshall ASSIST gives customers the benefit of pre-planned service, maintenance and repairs by the industry’s most experienced engineers. Unlike any other service provider, MFS operates wholly-owned regional and local branches so that they can support its customers wherever they are located, at any time. One call is all it takes to get through to the MFS 24/7/365 customer support team who will manage all maintenance and repair requirements from start to finish. No other single provider can match the scope and coverage available through MFS for transport refrigeration and ancillary equipment support.

“Transport and logistics are changing rapidly and no more so than here in the UK. That is why our Marshall ASSIST programme offers flexible duration, fixed cost budgeting and a reduction in fleet administration at its core. Customers tell us how long they want their cover to run, and all this is undertaken at a fixed monthly cost per vehicle, so that there are really no surprises when it comes to maintaining the fleet, whilst giving complete peace of mind for the duration of the agreed contract,” commented Mark Howell.

For those companies not ready to commit to a contract initially, MFS also provides the PAYGO option, which allows them to manage all fleet maintenance requirements on a simple and easy ‘pay as you go’ basis.

Full details about choosing the optimum Marshall ASSIST plan for a fleet can be viewed on the dedicated MFS contract maintenance web page https://marshallfleetsolutions.co.uk/marshall-assist/, by calling MFS on 0800 731 1685 or by email on assist@marshallweb.co.uk

THE ICE CO COMES TO THE RESCUE FOR FAMILIES LOOKING FOR THINGS TO DO DURING LOCKDOWN WITH NEW DRINKS RECIPE BOOK

Yorkshire-based The Ice Co has launched a new drinks recipe book to give families fresh inspiration while looking for things to do in lockdown.

The Little Book of Drinks, available for free from The Ice Co website, or for £3.99 on Amazon, includes recipes such as The Fizzy Sweet Slushie, and The Watermelon Slushie, to inspire mini mixologists and their families to get creative in the kitchen.

The book launch comes hot on the heels of The Ice Co’s Great Summer Freeze campaign, designed to inspire families to have fun at home and make adventurous, non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy together. Children across the country were asked to design their own drinks recipe to be in with a chance of having their recipe featured in the book and printed on one million packets of Party Ice, stocked in Tesco and Sainsburys nationwide.

The launch of The Little Book of Drinks comes as The Ice Co has seen record sales of its premium product, Super Cubes, giant ice cubes that are made from spring water, and most commonly enjoyed with premium tipples.

Ginny Woolhouse, Head of Marketing at The Ice Co, said:

“With families currently not able to get out and about as much, finding ways to keep the kids busy at home has been essential. That’s why we’re on a mission to inspire parents by giving them something to help get creative juices flowing.

“Bagged ice isn’t just something for adults drinking alcoholic drinks – it’s also a key ingredient for mocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and drinks like smoothies too. The Little Book of Drinks showcases just what you can do with different varieties of bagged ice, and we hope it sparks creativity and excitement.

“The upsurge in sales of Super Cubes in recent months shows us that consumers are looking for fresh and exciting drinks to try at home, and are getting creative in the process. What’s more, they’re opting for quality over quantity, seeking that premium drinks feel from the comfort of their own home.”

Consumers can download a free copy of the Little Book of Drinks here, or purchase a hard copy of the recipe book from Amazon.
