Oakland International Appoints Group IT Director

Shaun Devey, Oakland International’s new Group IT Director

Responsible family business and specialist UK and Ireland multi temperature supply chain operator Oakland International has appointed Shaun Devey as its Group IT Director, a new boardroom role focused on enhancing information technology across group operations.

Previously the winner of the Motor Transport Best Use of Technology Award, Devey has a strong strategic and operational business focus which will support Oakland’s aim of delivering technology innovation and change, improved operational performance and delivering value-added customer services. Bringing with him over 25 years of experience providing industry leading and award-winning technology within the services, retail and logistics sectors, Devey has held senior positions within a variety of organisations including Interserve PLC, Phones4u, ArrowXL and most recently the iForce Group.

Commenting he said: “Oakland International has a very exciting couple of years ahead as we mature the customer proposition, develop stronger strategic partnerships and transform the Group’s technology platforms. These developments are exciting and will significantly add to the bottom line, however I am also looking forward to being part of a business which really cares for its people and the social impact of the service we provide.

A multi-award winner, Oakland International is a BRC accredited (for storage and distribution) business and a multi temperature distribution specialist providing contract packing, storage, picking, food distribution and brand development support for ambient, chilled and frozen food to the retail, convenience, discount, wholesale and food service markets.

Twist of Lemon Layer Cake

Ingredients

For 1 Cake Ø24 cm

1150 g (3 x 350 g) Layer Cake Batter

150 g Dawn® Delifruit Classic Blueberry

150 g Dawn® Delicream Lemon

300 g Dawn® Vanilla or Cream Cheese Frosting

Lemon Slices, Fresh Blueberries

Basic Recipe

Layer Cake Batter:

1000 g Dawn® Layer Cake Mix Vanilla

660 g Water

120 g Vegetable Oil

1780 g Total

Method

Layer Cake Batter

Mix all ingredients with flat beater for 1 minute on low speed, then mix 3-5 minutes on medium speed. Mix for further 1 minute on low speed.

Fill the Layer Cake Batter into ring forms.

Bake for 45 minutes in a deck oven at 175 º – 180 º C or rack oven: 150 º – 160 º C.

Assembly

Spread each layer with Dawn® Delifruit Classic Blueberry and Dawn® Frosting. Then sprinkle Dawn® Delicream Lemon on top of the frosting and sandwich with another cake layer and repeat the process. On the top cake layer spread only the Dawn® Frosting and don’t cover the sides of the layers to achieve the trendy ‘naked’ cake look.

Decorate with lemon slices and fresh blueberries.

Iceland has launched Ready Scrambled Eggs (£1.50, 250g)  – ready in just 90 seconds and designed to provide a convenient breakfast option.

Each pack is made with four free range British eggs with a dash of milk and seasoning.

Iceland’s Head Chef Neil Nugent said: “Convenience and quality is fundamental to all of Iceland’s dishes, even simple ones likes scrambled egg. It’s really easy for our customers to cook at work with limited resources on offer, or those needing a speedy breakfast at home.

“Our ready-made scrambled eggs are made using British free range eggs with a little seasoning and are ready in just 90 seconds. For the perfect  breakfast, serve on seeded bread with smoked salmon.”
