Aviko Urges Operators to ‘Top That!’

Aviko Urges Operators to ‘Top That!’

With 89% of consumers wanting to see greater variety of jacket potato options on menus, including more innovative fillings*, Aviko is encouraging operators to think beyond standard cheese and beans with the launch of its new Top That! Recipe Book.

Available to download free, the new recipe book is bursting with inspiration and tips on how operators can give their jacket potatoes a new lease of life during any meal occasion, including recipes such as the Breakfast Jacket, Moroccan Lamb & Apricots Jacket and Puy Lentil, Feta & Beetroot Jacket with Rocket.

Mohammed Essa, Aviko General Manager, explains: “It’s easy to get stuck in a rut and serve regular toppings such as tuna mayonnaise or chilli con carne, but while servings of jacket potatoes are growing at 3%**year on year, it’s clear that consumers want to be offered more choice.

“Our new Top That! Recipe Book enables operators to do just that. It includes recipes which tap into the consumer trends driving the market such as gluten-free, health, heat and meat-reduction, as well as hints and tips on how to develop it further or add your own creative twist. With eight out of ten people choosing a jacket potato as a healthier alternative out-of-home*, it makes sense to make the most of it on menus.”

The new recipe book comes hot on the heels of the launch of Aviko’s new Jacket Potato range. Available frozen in large and extra large, the delicious and wholesome British Jackets are slow baked in advance meaning they are ready to simply heat, top and serve.

Mohammed continues: “The fact they’re slow baked before freezing ensures the Jacket Potatoes have a crisp skin and are soft in the middle – essential given that recent research found crispy skin is the most important factor for consumers, followed by a light and fluffy centre*.

“The new jackets offer a versatile and consistently high quality product, with a fresh oven-baked flavour every time.”

To help operators entice diners, Aviko has created a range of free downloadable point-of-sale materials including posters, flyers and tritents. Product information is also available here.

The large Jacket Potatoes are available in 4 x 1.5kg boxes and the extra large is available in 4 x 1.86kg boxes. Both are suitable for oven, combi-steamer or microwave heating and can be ready to serve in just 6 minutesˆ.

One of the biggest potato processors in the world, Aviko offers a range of chilled and frozen potato specialities made by chefs, for chefs, from morning favourites such as Hash Browns and innovative Hash Brown Bites, through to Premium Fries, Mash, Roasties and much more.
